Planetworks has redefined Shanghai's North Bund district by crafting a human-centric hub that artfully merges historical elegance with innovative, contemporary design, giving rise to a sophisticated urban landmark.
RESPONSIVE FACADE DESIGN
The facade design uses parametric design to rationally analyze the relationship with surrounding buildings, and determine the combination of virtual and solid transparency based on spacing, line of sight, occlusion and sunlight.

Shanghai Chic
Planetworks infused the colors and textures of the historic Bund with a bold, modern flair to resonate with Shanghai’s increasingly sophisticated urban dwellers. We playfully inverted traditional roof forms into outdoor ceilings, framing dramatic views of the futuristic Pudong skyline. This inventive twist continues Shanghai’s celebrated tradition of blending old and new, crafting a chic, unexpected aesthetic that enlivens the cityscape.
INNOVATIVE MATERIALS
The façade material adopts off-white embossed aluminum plate and fluorocarbon sprayed aluminum profile close to red brick color. This pays tribute to Shanghai’s historical buildings and creatively solves the problem of dark façade color caused by low glass reflectivity.
